Gold Discover Days kicks off at Plumas Eureka State Park, Johnsville Sat & Sun, July 20 & 21 from 10am - 3pm both days (Don’t miss the acclaimed Pancake Breakfast Sunday July 21, 8-10:30am)
Take advantage of this fun-filled family weekend at the gorgeous and historic state park! You don’t want to miss this incredible opportunity to step back in time. You’ll get a real taste of what mining life was like, from the 1851 discovery of gold on Eureka Peak, through the 1890s.
The pioneering spirit comes alive with a bonanza of free activities for the whole family. Mining era crafts, exhibitions, artifacts, tours of the Moriarty house, draft horse wagon rides through scenic Johnsville, blacksmith shop demonstrations, homemade ice-cream making, children’s activities and gold panning are just some of the offerings. Food (BBQ lunch for purchase) and music is planned for both days – so bring your picnic blanket. You can even put on the period costumes provided by the event hosts, and make your own family photo keepsake. There are plenty of memorable and educational activities for all ages.
